San Antonio, TX (November 8, 2021) – Two people were left with serious injuries after a drunk driver crashed into their vehicle head-on during the early morning hours on Sunday, November 7. At around 2 a.m., authorities were called to the site of an accident on Bitters Road.
Reports from the San Antonio Police Department show that two people were traveling in the 2300 block of Bitters Road inside a white Honda Civic. At the same time, a blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east across North Loop 1604. The Chevy struck a curb at the intersection and made a right turn. The truck then drove across the southbound lanes of Bitters Road and crashed into a light pole. The vehicle continued forward driving southbound in the northbound lanes for approximately 785-feet before crashing head-on into the Honda.
The impact of the crash caused the Silverado to burst into flames. A Good Samaritan ran over and pulled the driver from the vehicle.
The driver of the Silverado and two people inside the Honda, a 22-year-old male, and a 21-year-old female, were all transported to area hospitals for care. The driver of the Silverado was found to be intoxicated and was booked for two counts of Intoxication Assault.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the victims who were injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
